Kelly J. Guarino (formerly known as Kelly J. Stringham) is an associate of the firm. Kelly counsels individuals, families and family businesses on tax and estate planning issues, including gift and estate taxation, probate, trust administration, wealth accumulation and transfer, and business succession. Kelly also assists exempt organizations with issues related to formation, governance, operations and financing, and she has a particular interest in charitable giving and exempt organization issues relating to land conservation. Prior to joining Lourie & Cutler, P.C., Kelly practiced law in the private client departments and tax department of several large Boston firms. Kelly thus brings to her estate planning experience a business tax background, which includes mergers, acquisitions and related reorganizations, business and venture fund formation, and executive compensation, option plans, retirement plans and related operating issues. Kelly previously resided in Alaska where she maintained a practice in estate planning and exempt organizations and taught public land law and policy at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Kelly is a member of the American Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association, the Boston Estate Planning Council, and the Alaska Bar Association. She is a Commissioner on the Carlisle Conservation Commission, is the Chairman of the Carlisle Community Preservation Committee, and serves on the Board of Directors of Carlisle Kids’ House. Kelly received her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School (1997), and her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Utah (1992). She clerked for Chief Justice Michael Kruse and Associate Justice Lyle L. Richmond of the High Court of American Samoa (1997 – 1998).
